How does the 5% service fee work?
By default, pet parents pay our 5% service fee on top of what you charge, so it is not deducted from your earnings and you keep 100% of your service prices.
Prefer a different approach? You can set a maximum dollar amount or percentage that pet parents pay and cover the rest yourself.
What does the 5% service fee cover?
A significant portion of the 5% service fee is used to cover payment processing costs, allowing you to keep 100% of what you charge by default.
The rest helps support the PetPocketbook platform and the experience we provide for both pet care businesses and pet parents.
What if my clients push back on the 5% service fee?
In our experience, most don't. Pet parents are already familiar with service fees for things like food delivery, ticketing, and online booking. When it's communicated clearly, it quickly becomes part of the overall cost of care.
Am I required to use in-platform payments?
Your clients don't have to pay through PetPocketbook (unless you choose to require it).
We require businesses to offer online payments through PetPocketbook as an option, but you're free to accept cash, checks, or any other payment methods you choose. Payments made outside of PetPocketbook are not subject to our 5% service fee.
You can still record offline payments in PetPocketbook to keep your invoices, payment history, and client records accurate and up to date.
